Default Moving to Spain

Myself and my wife want to sell up and move to Spain probably almeria area but not sure what to do first ie sell our house and then look for a place or other way round. Is there any good companies out there that can advise and help with these type of decisions. It all seems so daunting but we have made our minds this is what we want to do. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Well, if you are using your sale funds to purchase, then the choice is made for you, unless you have a load of dosh hidden away

The suggestion that you will probably get is rent in Spain for a while, until you are sure it is the right thing for you to do. You can still put your place up for sale, but no rush to sell under those circumstances

I dont think a company can tell you anything really that you cant figure out yourself.

Thanks for the reply I guess I'm just nervous about making the plunge you are right the sale of our house will be our only cash so will need to live off the remainder until pensions kick in which will be a couple of years yet but we feel it's the right time now. We have been considering renting to start and that would give us the opportunity to have a good look around. Thanks again

Hi, we did a move to Spain last year, sold the house and everything else we had and moved to Benidorm. Our pensions don't start until next year but we did have enough private pensions to live off. Renting is the easiest option for us and works out at €500 for 2 bed apartment (+ leccy)

Best move we ever did, absolutely no regrets. Go for it😃

Hubby and I sold our house in the UK. We booked a rental apartment for 3 weeks in Adra, 40 minutes from Almeria, whilst we found somewhere to live. Almost 8 years on and we are still living in Adra in rented accommodation. After the sale of our house, we never actually came away with much spare money and the place we are renting is much nicer than we could afford to have bought. We are very happy here.

I would advise not to sell the home in the UK for quite some time to come. I reckon if you rent out your house in the UK you will be able to fund your rental in Spain and have quite an amount left over for your personal use.

By not selling in the UK you have the option of returning if things do not work out in Spain. However, later on, and if you are happy that the move is as good as it gets, then sell the UK property.
