Although now he's free to carry out his experiments, I fear he may well return to the UK in a box.
Or the wife runs off with Manolo from next door.

As for Manolos, everyone and his dog is called Manolo here, to the extent that they all have nicknames to tell them apart. The one I liked the most was Dangerous Manolo, (actually Red Manolo) the error came about thru me mistaking pelirojo for peligroso.
I dug up my Jerusalem artichokes yesterday. Just as a laugh I bought two packs in Tesco´s last year, ate one and planted the other. They grew into 5 large plants with yellow flowers, and have cropped so well I couldn´t believe it. 5 plants gave me 25 KILOS of roots, which is quite a good return. I´ve never grown potatoes, so I can´t tell how that rate compares.
I´ll certainly be growing them again next year.

the sort of things that should carry a 'don't try this at home' warning - unless like bil, you know what you are doing

I´ll count that as a victory....
Kidding aside, my philosophy has always been to attempt most things after studying them carefully and getting the best advice and info I can. You get to learn an awful lot of stuff that way.
