Unfortunately, reality shows that none of this has anything to do with the common misguided, but easy to accept theories. But it does have everything to do with the very same extremism the world has been burdened for over a generation now, incubated by brutal autocrats that bear no resemblance to those we love to blame for it.
If nobody ever took any action against this scourge, no doubt we'd be blaming Blair or everyone else for doing nothing...
...but the threat would still be there either way. Probably much more so in the latter scenario.
Luckily though, we have taken a great deal of action, so your chances of ever being directly involved in a terrorist incident on European soil is far lower than the chances of being involved in a car accident on the way to work. I'd hate to envision what our world would be like if we just capitulated...

This thread should be renamed as the "terrorist fearmongering and sensationalism" thread.
Statistically, you have a greater chance of being struck by lightning. But if you're foolish enough to fear that, then just lock yourself in at home. We already have too much extremism/senssensationalism, so we don't need any more roaming about.
By the way, I don't sense any lack of Americans over here, in fact, if anything, quite a bit more. I've heard more american accents being spoken in Spain & Germany than ever in recent memory. Perhaps that's just another exaggeration consistent with the theme of this thread?

As for capitulation isn't that what happened in Iraq and is ongoing in Afghanistan. Now more than ever after cocking it all up they should be sorting it. I cannot understand why EU countries and the US have such numbers of active armed forces, 90% of them should be reservists and and activated in order to stuff the likes of IS when necessary.

Probably. You mean the French have come because they realised the Brits would be reading this and wouldn't come here.... The Germans haven't come because they are afraid of the Greek restaurantiers.

But your explanation sounds perfectly logical

I imagine Germans now visiting Greece itself will be about as popular as a fart in a perfume shop.
