Re: More Fears..
No doubt the D.S makes the D.M. look like a highly intellectual publication by comparison, but joking aside, the first thing that crossed my mind after this Tunisian incident is the worrying fact that a similar atrocity could easily happen anywhere.
It is highly unlikely that all the beaches in Spain could be fully secured against that type of attack and even in the UK I doubt if our tighter security measures could completely eliminate such a risk.

Unfortunately it is a threat we will have to live with, nowhere is safe.
The lack of tourists in Tunisia will probably mean that it too will descend into another threat close to Europe.

If you live your life worrying about terrorists threats (minimal!) then the terrorists win.
They've already beaten the USA although the us doesn't understand or realise it yet. The U.S is becoming very insular and reverting to the country it was between the wars- don't let anyone in and advise its own countrymen never to go abroad!

This thread should be renamed as the "terrorist fearmongering and sensationalism" thread.
Statistically, you have a greater chance of being struck by lightning. But if you're foolish enough to fear that, then just lock yourself in at home. We already have too much extremism/senssensationalism, so we don't need any more roaming about.
By the way, I don't sense any lack of Americans over here, in fact, if anything, quite a bit more. I've heard more american accents being spoken in Spain & Germany than ever in recent memory. Perhaps that's just another exaggeration consistent with the theme of this thread?

It's basically all about common sense and location.
There are obviously some countries where the risks are much higher and should be given due consideration, but as regards Spain I wouldn't think the risk is a great deal higher than back home.

Re: More Fears..
Seems a bit silly.
I would have thought that the Canaries would be safer than the Peninsula.

Living in East London, I would never leave my house if I believed all the stories that circulate about the area.

They should be going after Tony Blair and not innocent holiday makers although I suppose some of his core voters do go to Beni for holidays so that would make a weird kind of sense
