Default mifi - no landline

Can anyone advise on the cost of a sim for mifi?

We dont have a landline and would like unlimited data if possible when we come over to Spain.

Looking at buying a mifi rather than rent one.

Many thanks

That's a bit like how long is a piece of string. There are so many factors you'll need to narrow down:
  • 3G or 4G ? (4G is best for TV but is not universally available)
  • Contract or PAYG ? (PAYG is still rare for 4G but plenty for 3G)
  • Which area? Signal strength varies from region to region and provider to provider.
  • TV or just simple internet.
For example I have a 3G SIM in a Zoom MiFi box for simple email purposes which is PAYG, cost €10 with 10hours free. Top-ups are 1€ per hour. Useless for TV. You can buy in Carrefour and most technology retailers as well as the Provider outlets

If you expand your requirements then I'm sure others will be able to help.

The biggest problem will be unlimited data.

I have purchased (in the UK ) from a Three shop sim with 12G data that lasts a year or less depending on usage. It is usable in Spain subject to some limitations.
Unfortunately when I tried to use it in Oliva I picked up the signal (moviestar and yoigo) but it would not connect. I may not have enabled data roaming on my mifi. I am over in a few weeks time so should work then
May be an option for you.

€5-€10 generally (for the sim) for pay as you go. Up to €75 per month if you sign a "free" 24-month contract including a "free" iPhone. I am not aware of any mobile network that provides "unlimited" data consumption. Any 3G network will be largely unsuitable for TV. A 4G network will be damned expensive if you watch TV over it, as you will quickly exceed your data limitations.

For about €30 per month, you can get regular internet.

Just watch out as a UK three SIM only allows roaming for 2 months then it is cancelled!

I think/hope that is continuous use in Spain and not cumulative.

Is it that you just don't want a landline? Or you can't get one in your location?

If you have or can get a wire connected to the phone network, but would rather not have a land line phone, check out pepephone. They are ADSL, but will give you internet without requiring phone service. About 24€ per month.

Yes it is. Not mifi but phone and I've had no problems 'flip flopping' backwards and forwards.

I think aeromax cover the gandia area.
But for TV consider a freesat system - one off payment for the equipment and set up, and no monthly fees.
