Yep. Or, cook very lightly, then add chillies, cream and a little curry powder......

One of my odd snacks is raw cauliflower. The florets are not unlike almonds, but while 100g of almonds is 600 odd calories, cauliflower is barely 35.

I love a really nice lamb or chicken tikka samosa and eat a lot of raw cauliflower with it. Gives you a filling meal, lots of mouth feel and minimal calories.

Samosas are deep fried? Would you not be better off with just the filling if you're counting calories??

By that logic, why not just eat cabbage?

The intelligent way to me seems to be to strike a sensible balance between indulgence and abstinence, while carefully observing what calories you consume.

Debs, it's all about balancing calories and eating pleasure. At 600 calories per 100g, thety are a very expensive treat. Cauliflower florets are a pretty good alternative. Try them in a coleslaw. I love coleslaw, but the mayonnaise needed packs a punch!

You said 'prepare to be dazzled with a full break down of the calorific value of a samosa!'

I adore coleslaw and mayo... I like cauli too but at least partially cooked. I know its all about calorific content... but you want to take pleasure in what you put in your mouth.

The meet-up is now ongoing so perhaps this thread should be closed. It`s open house now. Why aren`t you there? Lots of work on?
