Had we subsidised our coal, like Germany chose to, we could have shipped it out to Australia, paid the Australians ten quid a ton to take it off our hands, AND WE WOULD STILL HAVE MADE A PROFIT. The coal industry was destroyed in order to take power away from the miners, and to enrich all the Tory MPs and friends who had shares in firms importing cheap coal from opencast mines halfway across the world. We had an incredible resource, and the Tories blew it, purely for their own gain. All politicians are scum, but only the tories make scum look good. The thing I dont like about subsidies is they come out of tax payers pocket so its false economy, I`d love it if I recieved a fat cheque every month I did not meet sales targets....but that aint gonna happen:thumbdown: |
Re: Mark Thatcher in Spain
As long it isnt me then who cares, that is what your saying Rotor.
We helped our selves and worked very hard and acheived at a young age, but then disaster struck and who is there to help you. Things happen that are no fault of your own you have no control of the situation. I agree bill a fantastic resorce that is still there and whole area of the country still in a mess because of the closure of the mining industry. Both my grandfathers were miners and worked before and after the union, there lives were not good they worked very long hours for little pay and were working being exploted. How many of us dont like the explotation of the asian workers in China and the far east, well that is how the UK was before the unions, would you want to go back to that I doubt it very much. Maggie and her gang caused the problems that are in the UK by making them selves very rich, what did her son do to become a Lord or have the wealth he has or has had ? Did he do an honest days work for a honest days pay I doubt it. Dont be nieve, they are a very powerful crew and the common man has no chance in world they live in And on the side of Blair and Brown and there crew well they all attendend the same meetings and drink from the same cup, who does Blair work for now JP Morgan is one of them and they are owned by Rothchilds who employs Norman Lamont for one, did before he became chancelor and they do now. so they are really all the same helping the rich get richer. |

Bil, old chap, look at the post count before you bother to respond.
Matt, have you no recollection of Thatcher being forced out before even more damage was done? She came in on a disaster and went out on one. Post #35 says it all. Read Andrew Marr ‘A History of Modern Britain’ if your memory is that bad… |

Re: Mark Thatcher in Spain
1990 she left office, and some people are still blaming the woes of the UK on her, jeez, some people just cant let go can they!?
The unions were a bad thing, set up for the right reasons but as the adage goes, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The union bosses had this country by the balls, as the winter of discontent showed, and labour, yes labour, in all their years in power have simply shown that they are as corrupt as any other politician. At least Maggie never took us in to a new era of terror by taking us into an illegal war and equally illegal occupation, and now the prick has been made peace envoy, what a lucky chain of events for a war monger eh? Lucky he converted to Catholicism eh? |

Re: Mark Thatcher in Spain
No she took us to war in the Falklands and gave us 17.5 percent mortgage interest rates
And set the army into the desert to rescue her wayward son And she took the milk of the little kids in the early 70, that drink of milk, was the the only sustiance some kids had all day, My mum worked in a school in an ordinary town and some of the kids that was a big park of there daily needs. Your not old enough to know what she did and her currupt government. In 1983 a product called aspertaine was introduced, I think you need to see what that goverment introduced the the general public to control us. |
Re: Mark Thatcher in Spain
Amen. Even more corrupt than Labour.
As for that sh*t sucker Blair taking us into Iraq, the Tory leader (after it was crystal clear that we had gone in on a lie, and there were no WMDs) when asked what he would have done, said that he would have still followed Bush into Iraq. The Tories were supposed to be the opposition, but they let us down. Couldn't even do that. |

The rape of their country by the west? The ongoing occupation and unsettling effect that is causing among young impressionable Arabs? |
