Right! what chaos!!! Your visitor will need to be fit - its now a fair walk from the gates to the arrivals hall!!!!! I dont know if she would be willing to ask for "special assistance" when she gets off the plane - I wish I had lol!!!! At least then she would get thru passport control fairly quickly and then she could instruct her driver as to where to head!

Basically, the arrivals hall is now just an enormous space with no benches, I couldnt see any seating at all!!!! and I could only see one restaurant called "VIPS" at the far end, but I dont know what its like. Its got a red header with white writing and as I say it seemed to be the only one, but probably a good meeting point At least it has seats!! - The hall isnt finished yet tho, so it could all be different tomorrow!!!!!!!

Just logged on and saw this thread. We have to collect some friends tomorrow, who are arriving at about 11.30am. Early start for us, as we have to drive from near Jaén. :frown:

From what we have read, to get our facts right, we park up as usual in P2 or P3, make our way to T3 and wait somewhere until we find our friends. We assume arrivals and departures are all in the new terminal (T3) - is this correct?

As we have not been to the airport for over 6 months and been told different stories, we are just rechecking for tomorrow.

The entrances and exits are in the new terminal!! Once you've parked and have walked the 200 miles to the new arrivals entrance you should be ok as long as your visitors know roughly where you are going to be - it has a lovely area outside to sit in the sun and wait, but its huge and easy to miss people milling around. In the absence of a mobile phone, I would get them to head to the restaurant VIPs that I mentioned earlier or there is an area where arrivals come thru and you can stand and wait if you know that its iminent!!! Getting back to your car with weary travellers and lugguage etc is something else!!!!!!!!!

Its a lovely looking place now, very modern and quite spectacular - just not quite finished and as in true spanish style, not very well signposted LOL

To add my two pen'orth, was at arrivals for dd's flight yesterday; parked in my usual spot in the car park opposite OLD departures which makes it a relatively easy walk into the terminal building which is indeed then a trek to the other end of the new bit, & down to the arrivals which as Jo says is bizarrely lacking in seating & not exactly well endowed with toilets....
dd said signing as an arriver wasn't brilliant, but no doubt it'll all get there in the end!
The woman on Info I asked about where the UniCaja cash machine had moved to (in new terminal departures bit) said all flights were arriving to T3 at the moment - so I guess at some point there'll be a split according to destination/point of departure.

To save a long walk park in main public car park on second floor, as far to the right as possible, follow the signs, there is a door which takes you from the car park to a moving walkway, this takes you to T3, take lift down to arrivals

Does anyone have an update on this?

My OH is picking someone up on Friday evening that he's never met before so doesn't know what they look like!

I'm going to email a photo of him to her so at least she knows who to look for - but is the VIP café still there and is it still the best place to meet - or have things changed since April?

There is a place where you can wait for arrivals and you can stand with a board with the persons name on it, as the taxi drivers and "picker uppers" do. Its near the VIP bar, but the place has filled up a bit with other places.

What I did was when I was picking up someone was to wait somewhere in the car until they got through and then got them to send a text when they are through and standing outside of the departures - note not arrivals -much better. Get them to go up in the lift to arrivals when they are there get them to text you and then wait outside and then just pull up and pick them up that was very easy:D

Thanks Jo - is there any particular landmark that I could tell them to head for?
