I am sure that there will be some caustic comments, but there may well be some good ideas to.
No one has said about the Spanish laws of inheritance, does not the oldest son get the biggest piece of the cake?

Yes but don't forget that the transfer tax will need to be paid plus Land Registry and Notary fees.

Don't hold me to it but I think the point about the eldest son may be incorrect - I am not sure he get's the lion's share??!!

This posting should be a compulsory read for all on this site.
Whilst visiting and looking at property I have come across several cases where a sale of property has still not taken place after years because of the fact that the surviving spouse/partner wasn't protected. This was before the current problems re dropping property prices etc

It appears to be typical of ex-pats alongside moving over on a whim; hey I want a job as a brickie; to buy a bar although I've never worked in one. Little if no research and the ability to block out any intelligent reply on here if it is seen as negative.

Your Spanish will should only cover your assets in Spain. When you get back to UK remember to change you English will to only cover your assets in UK. You might be able to do that with just a codicil.

The following are very important clauses - MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE IN ANY ENGLISH WILLS IF YOU HAVE SPANISH WILLS ALSO

This Will is made for the purpose of dealing with all my Estate in any part of the world other than Spain

I revoke all earlier Wills to the extent that they relate to any part of my estate in any part of the world other than Spain

Hope this helps
