Re: made our decision
Hi traceandmarc
We have our house for sale near Milton Keynes. Its been on the market for 14 weeks now. We had our first offer yesterday which we didn't accept but our agent is renegotiating with the potential buyer.
Once sold we are moving to Adra so won't be too far from you in Albunol.

English girl there called Claire. She is very helpful. We met her last year and they can help with rentals.
Good luck with the move.

Hi,
We are from Sheffield as well and are at the beginning of our process of moving.
We have friends who moved to Almeria 2 years ago and they are going to help but we'll use this site as well as it has very helpful suggestions.
I'm self employed (Builder) so we will be going down the self cert mortgage route. we don't know whether to sell our Sheffield house or keep it and rent it out.
Oh well all things that will be sorted in time.
Good luck with your move.

Re: made our decision
We are in Richmond.
We haven't been in touch with any mortgage providers as yet, just doing google searches.
We are hoping our friends in Almeria are going to point us in the right direction.
Areas we are looking at are Almeria and Inland around Mijas.
Regards

Hi Julie,
Yes small world indeed.
I am hoping to carry on as self employed when we finally settle over there. I specialise in Tiling & Bathroom Refurbishments.
Whats the local area like for this type of work?

All mains pressure water off elec storage or Ascot type gas heaters.
Baths dont have legs, they are bricked in. ;-))
You will need fairly good Spanish to apply for all neccesary licences etc even if you work for the Brits.
You will also need official Spanish plumbers registration paperwork as you will need to certify your work.
You know all the rest about Books, Taxes, Insurances, National ins, etc. ;-))

Re: made our decision
Most UK fits are now mains pressure through Combi Boilers so no probs there and after having jumped through the various hoops for Part P electrical certification I'm hoping the Spanish plumbing certification is a similar process.
As for bricking in the baths, I knew the 4 years bricklaying would come in handy.
That just leaves the Spanish:
Tiempo a conseguir que estudia.
I take the tiling isn't subject to too much red tape.
Thanks for the heads up.
