A few clarts never hurt anybody,.....but sewerage and the brown stuff,....their favourite diet... I'm not quite so sweet on that. Never mind quick in the pan quick out, Just make sure they're well cooked or you'll be the one quick in quick out of the bog on a regular basis for quite a while!..:( As for shellfish, they're all scrummy.. My grandad wouldn't eat crabs though as he reconned they ate all the dead sailors..:scaredhair:

None taken. IMHO the "ignore" button is there for a reason, whether you use it or not is entirely down to the individual. I'm sure I appear on someone's list, that's the nature of forums, it doesn't worry me. :) Forums are made up of a great cross section of people, we'll always have different opinions, but if I come across someone who's posts consistently have absolutely no interest for me whatsoever, rather than get into the usual slanging match, I choose not to read them. (that's even more annoying than usual)http://britishexpats.com/forum/showp...&postcount=226. (I think sometimes he unignores me, just to have a peep):) |
Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
An interesting point many seem unaware of is that frozen then thawed uncooked fish can be sold as `fresh` in the eu , and most of it is:eek:

Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
we have a small fishing village near where we are at La Rabita so that could be good:)

Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
Due to some of my family going deep sea fishing a lot I know the routine. When the catch is in, the skipper of the boat is on his mobile to his contacts. Only the rubbish is left by the time they come ashore. Have been told that only the expensive restaurants buy fresh Tuna. The rest buy frozen or sub-standard.

i know what you are saying but we will have to wait and see what we can get when we are out there

Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
Somebody who is used to eating and buying fish can tell whether it is fresh by looking at it. Fresh tasty fish looks amazing. The crappy stuff looks crappy, its simple as that.
And you can ask at the pescaderia, wild local fish is twice as expensive as the other stuff and you can definitely tell by the quality of the meat and the taste so they would be stupid to rip you off. |
Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
yes you are right there and i do a lot of fish here in the uk and you can tell its not fresh as well

It doesn't seem to matter what you mention to be a good thing on here. It'll get slagged off no matter what it is. It's always better somewhere else. How funny. I bet the paella is crap in spain too is it..?:) ( Paella, no no that's not from spain, if you look at the statistics on where the rice was produced... blah blah blah... you will realize you are eating rats hair.. blah blah blah..) If you like them fish, eat them, if I can eat them on my balcony in the sun and have strawberries after.. Lucky lucky me.. |
Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
My diabolical wife came home from a shopping trip today with Mars bars, pork pies and chocolate éclairs, after having her teeth polished at the dentists. I’ve now got toothache and tomorrow is the weigh-in day for our diets. We’re not on the Mediterranean diet, we’re on the Iceland one.
