Claims handling second to none..I have been fighting LD for five months over a straightforward claim and their laughable offer for my car. Despite having two letters from the Police stating the other driver was at fault, money isn't forthcoming.

You do need to haggle every year and they will always match a better offer.

Claims handling is second to none.
On the contrary I've found the opposite and once they looked upon me as a regular renewal type easy touch customer, they start taking the p!ss and quite a bit more money than they should.

It came to a head two years ago when despite my perfect no claims record they'd again increased it by a huge lump.
They tried to explain it away with new benefits they claimed to have included but which I had never asked for.

They slowly offered to take it close to what it should have been by reducing the so-called benefits, by which time I was totally pissed off with them and went to another company that I insure the house with and who have coughed up straight away on a couple of occasions no questions asked.

When I informed them, their reaction was first to refuse to accept it and then aggressive to the point of being very offensive.

In fairness this is not the attitude I used to find with them many moons ago when I first used them.
I get the impression that the pressure is starting to tell partly as a result of the crisis and increased competition and that pressure is maybe reflected in the somewhat unpleasant attitude of some of their staff.
