Hi
Does anyone have a UK contact number or even better, email address, for either Linea Directa insurance please.
Trying to get a quote (from England) for my Spanish car.
Linea Directa there is no contact email address and the on line form for quotes insist on me supplying a Spanish phone number.
I don't have a Spanish number!
Tried to Skype the number given but its not permitted (premium line) bit the bullet and phoned from my landline, answered a load of questions (in Spanish) to be told all lines were busy - hold - Grrrrr
Even better, I just found the number to call for a claim and tried that, its a number not in use! Rapidly losing interest in LD unless I can make contact.
Any info would be appreciated. I know some of you out there use LD

In that case I would have a look round at other companies.
Or if you do want a quote from LD try to get someone in Spain to do it for you using your details.
I have always used http://www.ibexinsure.com/ and found them to be competitive.

I'm now hoping that I might be better off reducing the value (here its worth around £1,000 max) and going third party.
Interesting your comment about LD as I had previously seen a thread with nothing but praise for them, the reason I was interested

I am in a position where I can walk into IBEX 's office and discuss things face to face which is also an advantage.

Fred, do you know how I can get a decent valuation on my car in Spain please?
I have a value of €937 (£780) from we buyanycar.com but I believe used cars fetch higher prices in Spain? Is there a percentage I could work on?
Cheers

You could trawl through the various secondhand websites but they always seem to ask unrealistic prices and at the end of the day it is the value the insurance company places on the vehicle that matters.
So maybe ask the insurance company, I have in the past.

Hmm, both Segundomano & Coches.net have quite a few with higher mileage, asking prices between €2,500 & €4,500 ....maybe my broker was not so far off on the valuation - I will go back to him and get him to see if he can do me a better deal I think.
Thanks for your help, I didn't think of looking at those sites...

Both of us used IBEX in Spain for years. They paid promptly when my car was written off. Did once get a quote from LD and it came out a couple of euros less so didn't bother. Not worth the hassle.

Thanks for help, I'm asking my broker to see if they can get the cost down a bit. They have given decent service so far and I would not change unless I could get a significant reduction in premium.
Just felt I should do the exercise in case! It always pays to shop around in UK, with my car here I almost halved my premium with same insurer by shopping around and eventually going back to them. Glad I didn't just accept their renewal quote.

LD Spain will speak to you soon enough if you have insurance with them and you want to move to another company.
I've seen hi-pressure salesmanship in the UK, but that was nothing compared to the never ending stream of aggressive calls I got from LD which were nothing short of offensive by the time I eventually got them off my back.

Managed to call LD, very high pressure sales wanting me to agree that minute, very cross when I asked for a written quote - he said he didn't want to get into a battle of premiums with other companies - I said - that's business mate! And put the phone down.....
Thanks to all who tried to help.

I have a car, a motorbike and our house all with LD.
With the first 2, about 2-3 weeks before the premium is due, I go to http://seguros-moto.arpem.com/ to get the lowest quote I can find.
Then I e-mail LD to [email protected] and ask what my renewal premium will be for the policy no. ........
Within a day or 2, they always phone and after a few minutes, whatever their renewal quote is, they lower it to the lowest figure I can find on moto-arpem.com.
I have known them call a UK phone number (when I arranged all this for my brother's house here), so it might work for you.
I strongly disagree with all the negative comments here about LD.
I've been with them for 6 years and really cannot fault them.

You do need to haggle every year and they will always match a better offer.
Claims handling is second to none.
