Welcome to the forum
I moved your post to Spain, where you will get more feedback. I cant help you with that specsavers. I used the one in Javea and they were quite bad. I had to take my glasses back repeatedly before they were OK, and then in 12 months the colour off the frames all came away |

I went back to them and showed them only to be told that it was my fault! I asked what the coating was meant to do if not protect them and they just said 'tough'. Mmmmm. Not good and niot very good customer service. Anyone any other recommendation? I've asked in the usual shops (spanish opticians) but they want to charge me nearly 3 or 4 times as much just for one pair - I simply couldn't afford that! |

I've also had a bad experience with specsavers in Javea. I bought a pair of specs with an anti-scratch coating.

I was going to try them as I'd been to Specsavers in the UK and needed new contact lenses - however, my neighbour told me the opticians by Iceland, miramar, Fuengirola was better so I went there (easier to park, do other shopping etc) and they've been great. I have my new lenses in and they were much cheaper than I anticipated too!!! Jo xxx |
Re: Life in Spain.
I've not used them personally but a friend went there for some multifocals as they had previously used Specsavers in the UK.
They had to go back 3 times and have them remade as they just weren't right. Eventually they gave up, got their money back and went elsewhere. |
Re: Life in Spain.
OH had some from the Fuengirola branch. Seemed ok but when he played golf sais they were distorted when he looked down and had to use some old ones. He finally got some more at another place. I thought it may have been him just whinging but not so sure after reading this:confused:

Four of us went there, three have had problems of one sort or another. |
Re: Life in Spain.
Try Glasses direct online, you 'll need a Uk address though as they won't post abroad, everyone I know who uses them, praises them:thumbup:

I took mine back after the colour came off the frames, and they told me that it was a reaction to sweat. I explained that I'm not someone that sweats that much, and anyway the frames dont touch my face! The also as good as said said that it was tough.

Re: Life in Spain.
My OH goes to General Optica, has her whole life and never had any problems

Re: Life in Spain.
I get my contacts mail order from Specsavers in UK - they mail them for 5 GBP. They are about 40% less than Speccies Javea & when I saw their ad saying they were cheap, went in & queried it. The words off & fobbed spring to mind!
I'd avoid unless you are minted & not bothered. |
Re: Life in Spain.
specsavers are the same over europe, i have a good guy in hastings who mends my specs every couple of weeks cos they are so rubbish..........
so much so, i decided to look into getting my eyes lazered................... |
Re: Life in Spain.
If you are working in the holiday industry (bar work etc) you will not earn much money, i would just treat it as as working holiday (good experience anyway)
