Thats no life at all , think you need to revamp your life a little before you end up with a stroke ..

Just my views
Hey Pete

Hasn't anyone ever told you that you can't get rich by being honest and working hard?

Returning to the UK is not an option my husband wants to entertain. We had jobs some people only dream of, but he was travelling all over the world (systems architect for a big IT company) and I was travelling all over Europe (PR manager for events company). We were lucky if we got to see each other on maybe two weekends a month

The bright side of living here is that we work as a team and are together 24/7. Wouldn't have it any other way.

My point was just that it is NOT stress free for everyone, especially those that still have to work in order to support themselves and their families. Our jobs are definitely high stress, but our wages reflect those difficulties

I took early retirement from the stressful job but really did not want to but did not mind finding out what it would be like with less stress in my life.

We moved to Spain - our choice.

So far it appears that it was the correct choice.

We all make choices and either are glad that we made those choices or regret it, however nothing is set in stone so those who regret the choices they made need to have a rethink and evaluate their situation and make changes. As they say 'you are a long time dead'

Our resources are very low so ordinary house, no pool etc but it is what you make of the life that is important.

I absolutey agree Rosemary. Life is what we make of it and the choices that we make are reflected in our lifestyle. I really wasn't having a go at you, I just keep reading about how stress free life is in Spain by a the majority of people here and the reality is that it's not like that for everyone.

We've made friends with a number of couples who returned to the UK within 2 years. The main reason being lack of employment. Whenever it happens, it just breaks my heart.

You have it in one! I have heard it so many times now ........ If you are retired then the worries are much less, but if you have to work then it can be a problem dealing with the beaurocracy, the climate etc etc.

I'm pretty sure that if I had to work, then I wouldn't have come here just yet.

People need to hear about those who work here and that it's not all one big holiday. I strongly urge people that want to make the move to try secure employment (or at least look into it) before plunging into a purchase of a property......but sometimes I feel like my pleas are falling on deaf ears...

In any case, I wish you all the best and keep the faith!

P.S. Have you had a holiday since you've been here? We've been here 3 years and still no holiday or time off.

Im with you

People do need to hear everyones experiences so they can make an informed decision as to whether moving to Spain is good for them - as I always say your life in Spain or anywhere else for that matter is dictated by your circumstances, money, family, health, work - all these have a MAJOR bearing factor on settling in Spain

HOLIDAY - dont swear at me, my friends in England think my whole life is one big holiday - we are planning on going camping for the weekend in a couple of months - does that count
