Just purchased laptop ebay , all ok apart from not being able to get the @ sign to operate, can anyone help thanks

Usually, you have to use a combination of keys (ie Ctrl, Shift and @ or Ctrl, Alt and @) or a function key.

I use Alt then on numeric pad put 0064

Shift key and number 2, is correct, but if that does not work, use shift key and ' .
