The fact that she is an adult is irrelevant, however if she is wealthy she should not bother but if not she can as can anyone contest her fathers will. One doesnt have to be an immediate family member to contest a will in the UK.
Therefore it goes without saying that although in theory one can leave their money to anyone, if others contest the will there is a chance ones wishes will not be followed.

One thing is for sure, if she does contest the will, which is her right, the only winners will be the lawyers!

Sue I have never worked in the law and I know 2 adults personally who have succeeded plus over the years, and especially in recent years, there have been several stories in the newspaper of wills being overturned.

A case in the news today. A daughter overturned her parents £2m will where they had left it all to the RSPCA. Obviously not exactly the same family circumstances though.

The original poster had not seen her father for years and he had a new family - she was not financially dependent upon him (she is now an adult) - I am sorry to say that I think in my own opinion she would have little chance of success but I will be man enough to admit I am wrong in a few years time when the lawyers have all had their share of the money probably before it even gets to Court

Read the attached which answers the specific point about a child not maintained in their minority. The firm of solicitors providing the info know their stuff. You have to read quite a bit of what they say before you get to the relevant bit though.
