Eh? What´s Churchills????
We live in the city itself. Just bought a new house on the road out towards the airport (near El Corte Inglés) and hope to be in by the end of summer. If I remember correctly your hubby works out that way at the flight training school? I think that was you anyway.
We´re taking a trip to El Puerto this week to see Las Piratas del Caribe in the cinemas there - someone has told me that the cinemas in El Puerto are really special (don´t know why or even if it´s true so we´re going to find out!). You been? I guess it´ll be the same as Jerez in that they only show films dubbed into Spanish (my pet hate).

Churchills is supposed to be an english resturant, just of Plaza Arenel.
We have not been to the cinema yet, but we go to the bowling alley there and the childrens play room for mad spanish childrens birthday partys. Yes my hubby does work at the school there. Good luck with the house move, I have just come back from up there for a BBQ this afternoon. And I have a few friends who live in the flats opposite el corte.

Ah........yes, in that case I have heard of the "restaurant". Didn´t know the name though. It was still being renovated last time I was in that area.
They´ve put it right next door to Juanitos....somewhere famous locally for its good quality. And then someone has the audacity to put what is basically a glorified fish n chip shop right next door.
Are there really enough Brits in Jerez to keep this kind of restaurant afloat? I really don´t think so. And I can´t see many Spaniards going there given the reputation British food has.
I give it to the end of 2007 before it dies a slow and painful death.

We had heard about Churchills from some brit friends who cant seem to let go, so that makes sense now, thanks for that.
Crispy brit food, that makes me laugh. I have finally reached the point when I can manage with all spanish, I am the most surprised believe me. I have let go and moved on. Hooray!

I´ve tried a few times to go to Juanitos, but not once have I managed to find an empty table! I´ll have to persist.
I actually think there aren´t enough international restaurants in Jerez as I find Spanish food a bit samey. But a British restaurant? Purleeeease!!!!

Is that Churchills place in a small square near Tio Pepes towards the centre past the posh furniture shop ?????? If so I have eaten in the resturant next door, the food is good and so is the service.

There is an indian and a japenese opened in el puerto now. Not worth eating at the indian if you can cook yourself, My first attempts at indian were better than there. I have now mastered quite well actually, needs must and I do like a good ruby once in a while. I have not been to the japenese, but again I have taught myself the art of sushi with surprisingly good results.
I picked up the latest resturant guide from the Tourist office, it is actually worth getting, good info in it.
I will keep you posted on Churchils, perhaps I may go so I can report back

There used to be an indian in El Puerto years ago, but it closed down because nobody ever went there. If the new one is equally as bad it is probably doomed to the same fate which is a shame....it´s been years since I had a good ruby!

Now you´ve got me interested. I love sushi. Where is the new restaurant?

Is your friends back garden open to the public? I might turn up for my ruby at 3 in the morning after I´ve had a few sherberts on the town. I´m sure they´d love to meet me.

romejos is the fish resturant in the old bit infront of the embarco, In the summer they have a market selling craft stuff and merry go arounds for the children.

Ok. I know where that bit is. So I guess I just park on the river front there and the japanese shouldnt be too hard to find.
