Can anyone give an update on the jellyfish situation in Malaga/Rincon de la Victoria area please.

They're usually - in our experience - everywhere at the same time and we were at Benalmadena day before yesterday and saw none......... about 10/12 days ago they were everywhere in large numbers!

There where loads washed up on the beach at Isla Canella about 14 days ago

Thanks for the replies. I decided to play safe and not take the grandchildren to the beach and go to the lakes instead - no jellyish at Ardales (as far as I know

We were at Benalmadena (the bit to the East of the marina) for half the day and I found one jellyfish.

To us locals though (Spanish and English) they are and always have been referred to as... The Lakes.

Not being pedantic but isn't the dam the means of damming the water for storage and thereby forming a man made lake?

According to ecology groups many of the pantanos are polluted. Viñuela is particularly bad as all the developments there have sewage seeping into it.

You can also (rarely) get a species of freshwater jellyfish don't know if they exist in Spain and they are tiny so doubt they would harm you.

So precisely what type of jellyfish are causing the problem ?
Is it these creatures ?

Known as a jellyfish but biologically not so.
I recall large numbers invaded the UK coasts back in the hot summers of the mid 70s.
