Yes, if it is old enough to need an ITV, for commercial vehicles it is annual. I also believe, but haven't yet double checked, that once a commercial vehicle is 10 years old, the ITV is due every six months.
Also, someone else who contributes to the forum, Spain I think, was recently stopped and fined for the ITV on a van being slightly out of date! Kangoo's, Partner's and Berlingo's are classed as commercial vehicles, as are ALL Pick-up trucks.
Regards
Tim

A friend of mine has a Kangoo with windows in the side and seats in the back and was told when bought from the Renault dealer that because of this it was not classed as a commercial vehicle.

Our Kangoo is like that, windows at sides and seats in back with protective mesh at the back of the rear seats for the dogs to be safe in the boot. Couldnt be used as a 'van' at all. On our other car we had the notification sent that the ITV was due but on the Kangoo we have received nothing as yet.

If you look it up, they are classed as "mixta adaptable’, ie semi-commercial. First ITV at 2 years old, then annual until ten years old, then every six months.
The rules are the same for pre 1990 4 x 4's.

The circulation document will show the category in which your vehicle is registered and it is this which determines the date of the first test and the frequency of tests thereafter.

Looked at the sticker for the ITV done last year and it states that next one is in 2009, so our car must be a different classification

Don't rely on the date on the sticker, My vehicle was tested last May and is due again in September 2008 (something to do with it being 1st registered in September 2001) and I was given a sticker with a due date of May 2009 wheras in fact the next test is due, as recorded on the registration document, in September 2008. I'd suggest you see whats actually recorded on your reg document.

If it's classed as a commercial vehicle of less than 3.5 tonnes then first test at 2 years. Next tests at 4 and 6 years then every year until 10 then twice a year thereafter.

Well we were stopped by police in the Kangoo the other night and they just wanted to check all of the documents, no problems at all so I guess we are
OK and that ITV is next year as stated on windscreen sticker
