If they do have a c section tmost insist on taking the animal home because they won't pay an hospitalisation fee! They are the ones I find it very hard to be civil too
We've been advised to get them castrated, but will this stop them? If so I'll do it, but if they are still going to be the same I'd rather not, what do you think? Thanks :) Back to the original subject, here's a picture of my dog not long before he was murdered, note that his ears are a strange shape. Before we got him from the rescue home some Spanish gyspies had him and they cut his ears off with a scissors:mad: http://britishexpats.com/forum/attac...1&d=1187351965 the other pic is our babies now with their bruvs and sisters after I rescued them off the main road. http://britishexpats.com/forum/attac...1&d=1187351959 Also something was never cleared up when we lived there as we never had the actual proof of what actually happened, but I feel now it was confirmed when we went back. As there was a piece in the local rag about poison baits being left out to kill pets. Even in popular walking spots. When he died all the locals swore blind "nobody around here would do that" now it seems that its common knowledge that they actually do. So anyone with pets going out there or already living out there be aware that this does happen. Also I have come to realise that his death and the theft of our other dog was one of the major factors of my depression, as I was never the same after that again. I despise animal cruelty:( |

Why oh why do the pet shops in Spain and Portugal (I know it happens in other countries too) have little puppies in small glass enclousures for sale? This morning I have seen two of the cutest Maltese Terriers about 2 months old looking so sad and trapped. They want 750 euros each for them!!! I came away in tears its just so heart breaking :( If I could have, I would have got the two of them.

Vegetarianism has nothing to do with it though, just because you eat meat doesn't mean you should not be horrified by what they do. I am a vegetarian but don't see too much of a problem with my family eating meat, although I am encouraging free range and organic meat at the mo. If they have to be eaten hopefully they'll have half a nice life when they are alive. But eating cats and dogs is just dispicable along with horses. And it happens in Spain, my aunt was in Torrevieja at a chinese restaurant and dog was on the menu, she asked what it was and the waitress bold as brass said "dog" my aunt thought there was a mix up in translation and couldn't believe her ears and said "are you sure dog, wuff wuff" and she replied yes "dog" my aunt walked out. Also (okay I'm on my soap box now, chinese were mentioned) this makes my blood boil, they skin cats and dogs alive for their fur. They even disguise it as fake by dying it as its cheaper to manufature it than fuax fur, then sell it to the EU countries. So a customer thinks they are buying fake fur but if it has been made in china its more likely to be cat or dog, even if its pink or blue. Sometimes they even use real fur to make little stuffed dogs and cats etc. Disgusting, I had watched a doc by Heather Mills about it and was horrified then recently they actually showed a chinese guy on 5news skining a dog alive. It was horrible as he didn't know what was going to happen and his tail was wagging, then he started squealing....:curse:just nasty and horrible. I'm trying to boycott anything made in China, but its difficult as virtually everything is made in China. |

Jean I wonder if you can advise me on a problem I have with my dogs? Basically they are mad to get out all the time, when we were away they escaped 3 times and once were gone for 5 hours. They used to do it in Spain all the time and it was a worry especially after what happened to our other two dogs. We bring them for plenty of walks most evenings we head up to a country farm park so long as weather is permitting. The garden is fully fenced and any gaps have been filled, but they are still determined. Like this morning for instance I let them out in the garden and next thing they have broken some of the fence off, and are frantically digging under to get out. Luckily I heard them.

Will ask the vet when she gets a mo, but looking a your photos one of your dogs has terrier in him and that usually makes for a very strong willed dog, I know mine is!! They mabe just think it's a good game as more than one dog together like to pack. however castration does usually calm them down but not staight away as the testosterone still flies round the body for a few months afterwards! But if there is a bitch in season near by it will be driving them crazy. |

No Wendy, the opium trade and child prostitution are cruel and wicked, eating (or not eating) dogs is a cultural thing.
