Italian police clearance for spain visa
Hi,
I am australain citizen and I am applying for Spanish visa, but my question is general. Is there any way I can crosspost to differnet forums (Italy, Germany, etc) without duplicating my post?
I have a problem faced by many of you. I also need a police clearance from Italy because during the past 5 years I lived there for 1.5 years.
I am now working in Germany. I have two options to apply for Italian police clearance:
1) go to the italian embassy in Frankfurt one or more times (1 trip = 60 euro and 4 hours)
2) fly/take a train to Italy where I lived for 3-4 days and apply from there. (total cost = 200 euros approx)
What would you suggest? I will probably get the cert a lot quicker if I use no 2) and I am seriously considering it. I will also have a nice holiday
I had a few questions:
-- anyone applied for the police cert from outside Italy? what are your experiences? (process, duration, cost, etc)
-- anyone applied from inside Italy? what are your experiences?
-- will 3-4 days in Italy be enough time to at least apply for it (I don't expect to get it in that time).
thanks.

well my question is quite general like I said.. the visa stuff is just the background. Its actually about police clearance from Italy. I am sure several British expats would have had to get police clearance from Italy, unless they are exempt from that too

Did you not need Italian papers to live in Germany?
If so how did you get them?
Maybe you should also contact the local Italian embassy to find out how to get this. Italian bureaucracy moves just as slow as the Spanish system so maybe flying and picking up the paperwork may not be an option!

no I did not need any Italian papers when I had to work in Germany. Nor did I need any Australian or prior papers when working in Italy. Only Spain and few countries have this requirement for a *temporary* visa. Other countries have this requirement only if applying for permanent residency or citizenship.
I am still researching on the flying option. It is my last resort.
