Inheritance question - any help grately appreciated
My dad died in Spain last week. Although he was a resident in Spain he had no assets in Spain (car and property in my mums name, no bank accounts). His only assests in UK are couple of small joint accounts with my mum (which can be easily transfered into her name alone). He does have a will - but it is an (old) English will dating from before his time in Spain.
Do we need to bother completing any forms or going to solicitor to deal with inheritance issues? As there will be nothing to pay, it seems logical that we need to do nothing - but is Spanish bureaucracy as logical?
Thanks for any assistance given.

Welcome to the BE Spanish forum. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds very much as though you have nothing to answer to in Spain but I do not know the law so I am sure that others will be along shortly to advise you properly.

Simple really. No assets in Spain = no inheritance tax in Spain.
If he was tax resident in Spain the UK assets might be liable to Spanish tax - if you tell them - but from what you say they were not significant.
