Default Income required is 25,560 Euros

I've not been on here for ages where I have just been reading a thread from 2012 suggesting that proof of income in the region of "the law says that your income cannot be less than 5.007,80".

I've also read a uk gov linked document that says the income needs to be as follows.

6. Proof of Permanent Retirement income from an official institution (social security or other private source) to
live in Spain without working. The minimum income required is 25,560 Euros annually plus 6,390 Euros per
each additional family member. All documentation must be certified translated into Spanish.
7. Proof of other sources of income or properties in Spain if applicable, with a certified translation into Spanish.

Is this correct of am I missing something as the jump seems huge.

That's rubbish. There is no official figure for required income - it says that specifically in the relevant law.

It depends on individual circumstances, but €6000 in a bank account or available on a credit card seems to be acceptable. An escritora showing that you own property has also been accepted.

It's down to the guy on the desk when you apply.

This is NOT a quote from a UK government "linked document" (whatever that means), it is an extract from a document issued by the CONSULADO GENERAL DE ESPAÑA EN SAN FRANCISCO to US citizens of some western states, including Hawaii, who are applying for "retiree visas", (whatever they are!)

It makes you realise how difficult it can be to get to live in Spain if you are not from the EU.

Brexit lovers - please note!

Get your residence now, folks. After June, it may well become rather cost-prohibitive.

That does bring to mind... What "Britain in the sun" escapes will be left for non-EU British OAPs? Africa?

But to become permanent they do have to obey certain conditions, in Spain proof of finances and healthcare, in other countries there will be other requirements, unless they want to live totally off the grid.

Further investigation shows that this is for US citizens. Thanks for the comments here.

Good job the UK doesn't impose those restrictions. Oh, wait... Apparently, Britain is the only member that is required to allow anyone in for any reason with no requirements or restrictions whatsoever. Or so I keep reading.

So what income or healthcare restrictions does Britain impose on EU migrants ?

Nothing at all. The UK is bound by exactly the same EU residency law as Spain, but EU foreigner registration after 90 days is optional and the UK chooses not to require it.

So if a UK citizen goes through foreigner registration after 90 days, what affect does that have on any healthcare treatments, emergency mainly, I talking about here.

You would have to prove that you had adequate health cover, either from private insurance of by any reciprocal arrangement from the UK such as is available for UK State pensioners.
