Default Import tax??

We currently live in the UK, but are hoping to move to Spain next summer after retirement. We thought we would like to rent somewhere for a few months before we take the plunge and buy.

We were hoping to rent an unfurnished villa so we could bring our own furniture, but I heard somewhere that if you bring your own stuff into the country, you need to pay import tax on it.

Has anyone any idea if that is true, and if so, how much is it likely to be? Would it be a percentage of the value of the furniture?

Any help would be appreciated.

Stevie

Hi

Can I add a caveat that the importation of your car is time limited to 60 days for free transfer

True, but if you do have to pay it isn't an import tax, it is the normal car matriculation tax which applies to all vehicles registered in Spain.
