How do you like your beefburgers

Re: How do you like your beefburgers
My Lidl pony makes quite nice ones.
I could eat them Aldi long.
Don't know why folk stirrup such a fuss about such a stable diet.
Anyway, can't stay furlong, I've got the trots.

I used to have my burger medium to rare – now I have it Good to Firm
· I always use Thorough Bread
· I have tried the Aldi-niti version
· I take my burgers home in my Nose-Bag for life
· I’m avoiding the Tesco smoked Paddock fish-cakes
· Tesco set to struggle to meet demands after closure of their mane supplier…
· I had a Tesco burger for my dinner last night. When I went to bed I had some awful night mares
· I refuse to buy food from Tesco because of all the additives they include. I prefer mine Shergar free.
· Is it a coincidence that 'HAMBURGERS' is an anagram of 'SHERGAR BUM' ?
· Traces of zebras found in Tesco barcodes.
· I'm so hungry I could eat a horse
· my mate got food poisoning from burgers- hospital says he is in a stable condition.

Burger King warns of shortages as it stops using supplier at centre of horse meat scandal
Burger King confirmed it has ended its deal with Irish firm ABP
The fast food giant will source meat from another approved supplier
Until a supplier is found some products on its menu may be unavailable
Burger King has stopped sourcing meat from the Irish supplier at the centre of the horse meat scandal.
The fast food chain said it had ended its deal with APB's Silvercrest plant after it was revealed that some supermarket burgers were contaminated with equine DNA.
It is also warning that as a result of the boycott of the company there could be a shortage of some of its products until another suitable supplier is found.

Re: How do you like your beefburgers
considering I have read a report that the Irish company suffered a downturn of business a few years ago that cost the owner several £millions I wouldn't be surprised they will go bust this time. And a good thing if they do.
however, it means that the price of raw materials will have to increase which may well cause problems with pricing of the finished products which have been taking a downward cycle for a while now.
but as we know, lower prices can easily mean lower quality.
perhaps this is a time for the "industry" to regroup and take an inward look at itself whilst also allowing more openness within their processes.
considering the amount that Tesco's have claimed they have spent on supplier inspections it would appear it either isnt enough or was all a scam by them or their procurement teams.

Oh dear, as usual a bit behind the other countries, it would seem Spain is following suit and selling horse burgers. Five samples out of twenty tested scrapped through, the other fifteen failed, some containing horse meat, high sulphides, high fat, high salt. Eroski is one of the sinners. ¡Que aproveche!

Re: How do you like your beefburgers
Bought some great steak, and various other meats, from our local farm shop again this week, and he's loving it, his meat sales have gone up 20%. Might not stay there, but I'm sure a lot will be converted to eating meat that looks and tastes like meat should. Talking about traceability, he said it's easy, there's the farmer and me, that's it. Given that his meat suppliers all come from within the county and he knows them personally, that's about as risk free as it gets nowadays. They used to have a sign outside the shop stating "Well hung Welsh Black", I see it's gone now, perhaps someone complained.

"You will have heard a lot about horse meat recently. Yet you almost certainly will not have heard of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002. But the regulation discloses the key fact about this scandal. Supported by Tony Blair’s government, Regulation 178 transferred responsibility for food safety from each member state to the EU. It set up the European Food Safety Agency. So the British Government is no longer responsible for the safety of the food that Britons eat."

How widely reported has it been the the EU is now in charge of our food safety?
This explains why the FSA made 7most of its quality testers redundant about 12 months a go, so they no longer have any food testing facilities.
Well done the EU for not picking the problem up earlier and stopping it.
