Re: Home needed

Ok, I have been reading this quite a bit over the last day or so and I have to say, and it wont be easy reading and it will definately piss some people off but I personally think that if an animal cant find a place to live ultimately it is better off dead.

To be passed from pillar to post is a pretty miserable life for an animal as far as I am concerned.

Not that I am suggesting that this dog will be passed from pillar to post, but many do and for me its better that they meet a swift end.......................I have seen it so many times with horses and they just become more and more miserable.......if you really love an animal then why do it?

Dogs can quite easily settle into a new home, just like a cat. Yes, they will miss their previous owners but they will get over it.

What's any of that got to do with any of this? More interestingly... how does an animal find a place to live? Does it apply? Scan the 'Free Owners' columns in the local paper? Take out a mortgage? Also....how would a horse manage to hold a paper up to it's face to read it in the first place? Surely it'd find difficulty in picking the paper up with it's hoofs (or do you say hooves?).

In this case a stray seems to have found a temporary home. It's current carer is doing a great job in finding a permanant owner. If she's successful - then Bobby will hardly have been passed from pillar-to-post anymore than both of my dogs have been. Both of mine are from rescue homes. And by your reasoning, my dogs and infact all animals in rescue shelters should be killed?

You either haven't thought this through or are just adding your comment for the sake of controversy.

I made a comment, sometimes comments are against the grain of a thread....I personally don't think that we should kill ourselves to re home every damn stray in the world....and clearly the RSPCA don't either as they are more than happy about destroying animals that are either better off dead or are impossible to re-home.

Now as I said originally I know that its a fairly controversial topic but having lived abroad most of my life I don't follow the typical British attitude towards animals.

I have a flock of sheep and I almost never call the vet out and will happily put one of my animals down if it is in their best interest.

I know it is, all I was doing was giving a first hand example of something I know a fair amount about...it was an example......and I am fully aware of the significant difference between dogs and horses.

I understand where you are coming from.

But now you are talking about a sheep!

But I am sure you would call out the vet for your dogs? Whether it be a working dog or a pet!

But we are not talking about a dog that is loved and cared for here........I just knew that everyone would try and twist what I said.................I said that if an animal cant find a home, it is better off dead than passed around like a prom girl!

Ooooh! Call the Police Matt. Mr Pure Arrogance has been offended. Or whinge to your mates on TIO. Y'know, those people from whom you desperately crave attention and acceptance from?

Anyway, this is a thread about finding a home for a dog and that's what's important. If you want to continue to be of use then come up with suggestions of how you can help. Otherwise, keep your self righteous opinions that have nothing to do with the purpose of this thread firmly to yourself.

Thanks like..

But we are trying to find him a happy/loving home! Thats the bloody point!

I think the OP is having a bad enough time of it anyway!

You also should have considerations for other peoples feelings! WITHOUT getting on your very high horse and into a personal slanging match!

I know that, and all I did was post an opinion, I didn't suggest we take the dog out, string it up and shoot it.

and you may want to look and see where the personal slanging started eh?

Just to keep you all posted, and maybe stop the arguments! I am going to meet Bobby tomorrow with my little boy and hubby to see if we all get on. If we do then he has a new loving happy home with us! We will let you all know the outcome tomorrow!
