Holiday Letting Agency - Which is the Best
What are your experiences of letting agencies, i.e. Owners Direct or Holiday Lettings for example.

Re: Holiday Letting Agency - Which is the Best
are you looking for a mangement company or just somewhere to advertise
I know people who use holiday-rentals.co.uk and also owners direct and both have generally good lettings although I think down a little this year on previous years
I dont rent my place to holiday lets but long term...I did my own website and got a v good response to the free ads I did

Weve used "Holidaylettings" and "Villarenters" which both have been great.
But I know there are unscrupulous sites around.
Always book on a credit card.

Hi
One thing I always advise is to use each site as if you wanted to hire a villa like your own.
What prices / availability, how likely would you be to book given the information received - how easy to use is the site and how far up the various search engines?

Hi
Well done - so what came top, was it easy to find a property etc (and what was the cost of using it)
All important questions to which your reply is just that - what is best for you in your situation

A lot of these sites don't accept credit card. They usually accept by cheque or cash. I've made several enquiries from owners' direct & holidaylettings & I've not come across one which accepts cc.

Hope you all dont mind me chipping in with a word of warning.............
Almost every holiday letting or villa rental website advertises OTHER peoples houses as you can realise, and if there is a problem with the villa etc and the owner wont help or vanishes with your money, the website you booked it on will NOT get involved and they are NOT interested in any disputes so be careful!
You possibly may be able to rent a villa through an abta or atol bonded travel agents, which will give you some protection but you would pay a hefty premium on top of the rental costs, and also like Amanda said earlier, always use a CREDIT card to book (NOT a debit card) as if the holiday doesn't transpire, the credit card people would give you your money back.
I'm afraid from experience its a bit hit and miss.

Re: Holiday Letting Agency - Which is the Best
All of the websites talked about so far are not really Holiday Letting Agencies. They are just websites where you can advertise your property. You will have to make up your own rules, prices, and sometimes collect the payment for lettings directly from the holidaymaker. After they have vacated you place you will have to clean the property and maybe repair things. This is not really managing your property for you.
All of these sites will charge a “good” fee for advertising your letting.
Being in the vacation business ourselves, we know of a few tips so if you want some then feel free to PM us and we can pass on some information.
Should add what web listing site you wish to use depends on things like the market you are aiming at, your budget, what the Competition uses too.
