The Department of Health said cutting the amount of saturated fat in people's diets by 15% could prevent around 2,600 premature deaths every year from conditions such as heart disease and stroke.

I'd be interested to hear opinions regarding Jamon Serrano and the like.
As much as I like it, surely the salt content is excessive ?
Also according to the publicity they'd have us believe that the type of fat that often comes with it is healthy.

I think the fat, sugar, salt, etc content of anything isn't so important as long as it's eaten in moderation and sensible portions - it's when people's diets get to consist of nothing but burgers, pizza, chips, fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolate bars that they develop problems.

According to a learned article in the Sunday Times today, we can all stop worrying, our scientists have already discovered the means of prolonging our lives significantly, whether we eat fats or rabbit food.
But governments are suppressing the findings because if we all live that much longer it will cause wars. That may sound illogical, but it's explained nicely and makes sense - basically we will run out of space on earth.
Rich people won't be affected because they will have left to live on other planets, courtesy of Branson's Virgin space travel.
We need another whistle blower like that that Snowden fellow in Moscow to leak the details to the rest of us. I wonder if it will just be a wonder pill or some kind of Yoga.

Fascinating stuff, meantime I'll continue tucking into my Serrano, albeit in smaller fresh cut quantities from the supermarket, rather than a whole leg at a time which I could never resist tucking into every time I walked past, both when here and in the UK, as I used to ship a one back almost every time I travelled.
