Hi Everyone
Hello, I'm completely knew to forums, I've read with interest many but never joined any apart from this. I hope I don't offend protocol or procedure if I do I will apologise in advance!
I am planning moving full time to Spain, Jalon Valley Area soon (6-12mnths) due to many reasons, age health, weather to name a few.
<<<snip>>>
We are currently living and working in a very rural area so are used to things like distances, poor services and the like.
I realise by research so far that costa Blanca in general seems to be lacking in commercial forestry or commercial woodland for the production of timber probably due to the climate land type etc amongst other things. Although, Northern Spain appears to have a well established forestry industry supplying many timber merchants etc.
<<<snip>>>
I would find it very helpful if anyone has any experience in hardwood purchasing either in kiln dried board form like from a merchant, or log purchases from Northern Spain.
In addition although I have contacted many Spanish Authorities with regard to bringing over my own timber stocks containerised, I still have to receive a single response giving me clear indication what import duty and vat will be levied if any at all? Under EU directives free movement of timber within EU from member states is allowed. If massive duty and vat is levied on importing the timber it wouldn't make financial sense to do so.
Does any members have any experience on this? I am sorry it's a bit obscure a subject!
<<<snip>>>
I would be grate full for any help advice whether good or bad as long as it's not rude!!

Re: Hi Everyone
Hi and a warm welcome to the Spanish forum on BE. Myself and Fred James are the moderators for the Spanish forums whilst BEVS moderates Europe. Moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. This is so that members gain the information that they are looking for and find their experiences on the forums to be friendly and worthwhile.
Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderator who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are usually friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge about the issues of living in Spain. I hope that you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.
Rosemary
