hi every one this is my first thread and i just wondered if i could have some help. ive heard that if ur a parent on a low income ur entitled to a sum of maybe 400 and something euro a month but i want to know if any one knows what the requirements are? I am married and my husband has a wage but not a great one and i earn very little we both pay social contributions but i wondered if you had to be single parent?

If you earn less than a certain amount per month you are considered to be "sin recursos" But the amount is really low. I'm not sure how it works. I'd go and see your accountant/gestor as they may know. In Spain this kind of help is considered to be absolutely a last resort. It's certainly not like Child tax credits in the UK.

The best place to go is probably the local social security office. They should be able to tell you what you are entitled to (if anything) or at least tell you which government department you should be talking to.

If you dont speak good Spanish then take someone with you who does, but prepared to make a few visits, on the first one they'll probably just tell you who you should be talking to and what forms you need to fill in.

However, if your husband has a full time job which must be above minimum wage then I doubt you will be entitled to anything. The 450 euro payment you mention was for families who had no income and has been stopped now anyway.

In whatever case, I wish you good luck!
