I hope Lenny is grounded,In order to stop further roaming, Hold two bricks some twelve inches apart, Ask a friend to gently hold Lennys nuts just in the middle of the bricks then slam bricks together, You will find Lenny does not wish to go out on the pull for rather a long time. He may purr now like a high pitched gennie whilst sitting on your lap.But you will have no more sleepless nights. Lennie of course will be sleeping on his back for a while but he is home safe and sound.

No, not Bil
My Siamese cat (male, neutered, never away for more than a night before) went off five mornings ago and as a not terribly experienced cat owner I'm fretting wildly about when to alert the vet/microchip etc.
He had settled well, so it's not that. Vet said at this time of year even neutered males can get caught up in a frenzy of chasing females (sounds like many species are similar then
) & that 4 days wasn't that long.
Anyone give me any advice/pointers? We're deep in the campo 1.5km from the nearest road that's likely to be a threat. I've been back to the two previous houses he lived at. I've rattled his feed bowl several times daily since the first morning. Very sad. Help!

But he IS neutered!! - vet said even the nutless ones (to use your theme) join in the chase (said all this already) so it doesn't really stop them roaming. Either way, the direction, distance & timeframe of his venturing are now noted so if it happens again I'll know approximately when to go looking at house #2.

Don't know why I'm bothering to answer that, but you've obviously little knowledge of the campo dear Betris. Nearest chinky some 40min....
Back to the plot. HE'S BACK!!!

Turned up at the last house but one he lived at this afternoon - and thankfully the chap - due to go back to UK Monday - was actually in! Anyway, totally fine apart from one slightly manky eye which happened between arriving at our house & me getting home...
He'd ventured some 3km, across a road - bearing in mind there aren't that many in these yur parts - and I'm thinking of writing a kids book entitled Lenny's Campo Adventure
So, all's well that ends well. I won't panic quite so soon if there's a next time, but thanks for all your kind words

Re-read my post betris, you will see that I said Hoorah and that´s wonderful. And I was saying she wouldn´t care that he was a little booger, because she´s got him back. Don´t read things into a post which aren´t there.

The biggest threat to cats in the campo is feral dogs as well as dogs whos owners dont give a damn ,Ive shot several feral dogs from our area ,one with a dead kitten in its mouth, and two pitbull crosses which of course are a threat to people as well, my young daughter has cats and would be horrified to loose one ,so it good night to any ferals who venture our way, sound harsh but theres no other way.

Sorry to go off thread a bit, but since it was my thread, I'm going to! How else apart from shooting - which I have to admit to considering - can I deal with a feral dog that's adopted our house & chews up cushions, attracts my dog to chase goats
& even comes into the house & pees against the furniture?

I know of a case near Granada where someone complained about feral dogs to the Guardia who later turned up with a vet and put over 10 of them down!

It's a podenco(?) type which are notoriously shy/timid so although my best/worst scenario is feeding it to get it used to coming close then attempting to catch/trap it, I'm not holding my breath. Except when wiping his pee off the armchair.
