Are they also protesting about Spanish tobacco farmers being subsidised? Personally if people want to go to a bullfight or smoke, that's up to them, but I object to subsidsing it. With one hand, the EU is spending money promoting no smoking campaigns, and with the other hand dolling out money to thousands of tobacco farmers across the EU.

Until recently tobacco was the most highly subsidised crop per hectare in the EU. It was stopped but looks like it's about to re-start.
I'm generally in favour of the EU but it's easy to see why people get pissed off with it. This sort of idiocy adds fuel to the antis fire. Ridiculous.

Apparently it was the Spanish who introduced tobacco to Europe, not Walter Raleigh. They've been growing it here ever since.
