I have just received an email from a company called spywaresoftware confirming my order and stating that my credit card will be deducted by 79GBP. I have not ordered anything from them, but, am worried that by contacting them I could be falling into some kind of trap. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

Check your credit card statements thoroughly in future and if something comes up phone the credit card company and tell them what's happened. If you didn't order it then you won't have to pay for it.

I use a filter within mailwasher that reports the files its stripped out and the contents (filename etc......). I never get the chance to open them
Not that I would
