Let's all hope for some sort of closure for the boys parents.

It is such an emotive subject because it involved the needless death of a child.

It would have killed me to have one of my sons taken in such a way.

As for the compensation of 300,000 euros, I can't see the family getting a penny of that while the wrong doers are in prison.

Maybe the perps will get time added for non payment.

All said and done a very sad day.

If by some chance the parents read this forum, then please accept my most sincere condolences.

If this couple own property, have an income/savings/pension etc the victims family will be quickly compensated, why would anyone have to wait?

And how long do we think it would take to get everything signed over to the state and then split into their 300K?
Do they take all of their property/ pensions / insurances or just enough to make the 300k? What happens to the remainder?

I think we'd be looking at many years, even more so if the perps did not cooperate.

But WTH, 300k is not going to bring their son back or compensate them for their loss. Still a very tragic event.

In Spain, there is no requirement for cooperation from convicted criminals, their assets will be embargoed and liquidated pdq.

There is a system for recouping money for victims of work accidents where the employer did not have the worker insured with a contract.
The employer can lose all his assets where a worker has been badly injured.
I think there is a fund that pays out in these cases (criminal), then the assets are ebargoed by the state.
They are then sold and the shortfall (if any) is taken in the future by taking a portion of wages, pensions etc.

I think these peole should be hit in their pocket as well as a jail term.
