I have a question regarding healthcare. I’d be grateful for any responses and thoughts regrading this.
Here’s my situation,
I’m employed by a UK company but I spend the majority of my time in Spain. I’m looking at healthcare and residency.
Under the Healthcare in Spain page of the Gov.uk website, it says
“If you are a worker seconded to Spain, or the family member of a someone making UK national insurance contributions, contact HMRC to see if you have entitlement to an S1 form (previously an E106 or E109). Once issued, register the S1 form with your local INSS office, before you register with your local GP surgery.†(https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare-in-spain)
I make national insurance contributions, so I wanted to see whether anybody has a similar situation to me, or is aware of anything similar, or has any further information as to whether I could obtain an S1 and receive my healthcare paid by the UK.
I could have interpreted this wrong, or it could be a long shot, but I thought it was worth exploring and to see if anybody has a similar situation before contacting HMRC.
Thank you.

Hi, Your best way forward is to contact the Overseas healthcare team at Newcastle. They are very helpful and usually give excellent, and up to date advice over the phone.

Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderator who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are usually friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge about the issues of living in Spain. I hope that you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

How long are you spending in Spain and are you doing work in Spain?
If you are working whilst in Spain and exceed the 183 days then you employer should be employing you under a Spanish employment contract (different rules may apply if you are seconded to Spain for a short period of time)
If you only work in UK and visit Spain, then as a payer of UK NI and taxes you will be entitled to apply for a S1 form for your dependants if they are resident in Spain
This will NOT cover you as you will still be covered under UK NHS and you are not allowed to have cover from both systems.
If you work in both countries then the reciprocal tax agreement between UK and Spain will apply as to where you should pay taxes etc. Your centre of interests (dependants, property etc.) will also be taken into account.
Tebo53 is quite right make the call to Newcastle and check out your own personal circumstances.
Call UK HMRC for more guidance
Good luck
