Good morning All..
I am new to this forum and like to introduce myself.. I am Pauline, looking to move into Spain as a full resident in 2019, I am looking at all aspects that are required to comply with Spanish law on this. At present I am concentrating on the Health Insurance aspect.. so any help and advice/ recommendations would be most welcome.

Earlier this year a new law came into effect in Spain that all those resident, even illegal’s, who do not have access to health care would automatically be eligible to apply for free cover in Spain.

I believe Andalucía adopted the law immediately but some Regions were dragging their feet, but they will all have to come into line.
If Brexit were to result in no cover being paid for by DWP (at the flat rate of 4,700 euros p.p. per year at present) then that law would cover them. Although I believe the present cover is under a bilateral agreement which is separate from the EU rules so should not be affected by Brexit

Unfortunately the residency application departments are not yet aware of the new law.
