Statistics prove the Spanish lifestyle will make us live longer - if you follow it!

The article actually says Spaniards live longer not those that move/retire there. That would be a different study.
It also sites some of the reasons possible being how the Spanish live and the working lifestyle they follow, this is often very different to how many British people live in Spain. At the end of the day they come up with these predicted life spans , but many of my old friends have gone way before reaching anywhere near that age. Personally I believe genes and good lifestyle plus choice of lifestyle from early age have more to do with it and of course good luck that you don't get hit by a bus car or train 😉

Death comes to everyone and everything in time. There are several reasons people die – disease, old age, murder, and accidents. Though we are well aware of how frequently people die, we always find ourselves shocked when we do hear about someone’s death or see someone die. Even though no death could ever be considered lucky, some people’s deaths are worse than others, especially those who could have just avoided their fate by inches.
In 1985, a New Orleans man drowned at a pool party attended by over a 100 lifeguards celebrating a summer with no drownings. The party was hosted by the city’s lifeguards at the New Orleans Recreation Department Centre to celebrate a summer season with no drownings, a first back then. It was held at the end of July that year when most of the city’s recreation centres were closed. The party was attended by around 200 people, half of whom were lifeguards. After the party was finished, four lifeguards who were cleaning the pool found the fully clothed body of 31-year-old Jerome Moody at the bottom of the pool’s deep end.
