I appreciate it takes a real person with real feelings to post on a forum thread and at no point have I said I don't care about people who post on forums, or I think it is ok to be rude to other posters. I said I don't "evaluate online personalities" which is not the same thing at all. I just don't get emotionally involved as I might in the real world.
If anything, I am a shadow of my normal self when posting as I don't care to share my personality with other pixels.

I agree with what you are saying, everyone has a different way of being, and that reflects in what they write.
What is rude to one, is not rude to another, and to be honest someone(an adult) who is so (emotional) that they get all stressed out over strong discussions on a site, well to me it seems stupid.
The forum refelcts real life, wherever you go there will be a mix of views and personalities, you will agree with some and clash with others, so why should the forum be any different.

These spats involving PM's etc are futile, don't prove anything, a complete waste of time. Some people here are advocating that everyone behave perfectly, but then seem to lament the absence of banned members for being the complete opposite.
It was the same in another forum I visit, a member was crude, objectionable, obscene, it was only a matter of time before he was banned, and when he was people were complaining of missing him.

Yeah but can you imagine some of this lot in a bar trying to have a discussion? It would end up being one huge scrap, they or some anyway just can't chat without being nasty.
It don't bother me one bit, if that's what they enjoy in a forum, but I do wonder how they chat to pals in real life, was interested to see others thought's that's all.
Not seen any being diplomatic as perhaps they might be in face to face chats shall we say.

I suspect that some of the more restrained posters would be the ones that would become more forceful in open debate.
Isn't this going down the road of a similar thread some months ago?

Well, thanks, JLFS. Some of the replies got me thinking of out of life experiences, not that I've had any myself.
But such experiences are well documented and relate to a temporarily departed soul floating above life and observing those below acting as though they, the departed ones, have gone for good.
And then they return, armed with the knowledge of what people actually think of them.
It's an eye opener.

Agree, and if people are intolerant of others, prone to losing their temper, operate off a short fuse, used to getting their own way, then a forum is probably not the best place for them to hang out!

I suspect the anonymity that the forum gives makes posters far more forthright than they may be if the debate was in a pub. Similarly the personal attacks that some posters seem unable to control would also be less likely.

Now J2 has gone awol as well. Hope they are fine and there's not a serial killer targeting posters out there
We're losing too many posters of different opinions.

Do we have to send in a note from our mothers now before we are allowed to be absent?

Note from my mother (from beyond the grave). Sujee will be absent for a couple of weeks until she is settled in her new home in Spain.

Hope everything goes well with your move. The worst of the cold weather seems to be over now so you will be in time for spring to arrive.
