Well fwiw I sent him a pretty inocuous PM about something totally non-BE related on Jan 31 and haven't had a reply. Fair enough that may be he simply doesn't want to communicate with me about it! But.... hope he's ok.

I'm afraid I need to quote someone else more famous than me, Mr Murdoch, who recently, famously said, 'This is the humblest day of my life.'
When I logged on a few minutes ago, that's what I was going to say.
To explain, I have posted thousands of times on this forum and enjoyed being a member of an active community discussing matters close to my heart - living in Spain as an expat.
I did, rightly, get a tap on the shoulder from the American lady running the show when I went a bit over the top, not understanding the purpose of the Plaza de Toros sub-forum with the 'blood in the sand' implication.
The tap on the shoulder made me stop to reconsider for a while. I'm not a rude person but believe that freedom of speech is linked to freedom in general, a conundrum which has troubled all of us for thousands of years.
I'm not making a point of it, I'm not clever enough, and I'm dying to post my views on Harry Rednapp, Huhne, the cold snap and other topics.
I'll check my PMs later and reply to those that were kind enough to send them. At the moment, it's too cold to touch the keyboard, it's f****** freezing.

I don't tend to evaluate online personalities as we are all just a bunch of pixels. However, there are several people whose posts I enjoy, and HBG is one of them. I certainly prefer a mix of personalities and think it's a shame that bil is no longer part of the forum, amongst others.

Not 100% sure but it was at the time of the following thread

However a lifetime ban seems rather harsh

That thread has been "cleaned up" by admin to great degree. As far as I am aware there is/was an explaination of what lead to his banning somewhere in the Spain forum.

I'm useless at posting links to threads, but I think actually it might be one called 'banning' which was around in November.

I think if more on here remembered we are actually real people (and acted like it), they may stop being so rude to each other, or I wonder, do they talk to people face to face in the same way?
There are Just a few people whom calling names and stating openly that they hate a fellow poster whom they know absolutely nothing about, Is the norm, usually just because they have a different opinion to their own.
It tells me so much about a personality, and IMO makes them look sad.

I've said til I'm blue in the pixellated face that we should write/type as if the person were in front of us. That should reduce (though no doubt not totally eradicate) the instances of rudeness etc.
Anyway, it's not going to happen any time soon..............

Unfortunately there are more like you on here that think this way too, think as if we are not real ppl. For some it's just a game, a battle of their wits and they do get cross when they are not doing too well.

Thanks. Now why can't I do that?
