Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
Despite what some sites are saying it's inconceivable that non Spanish cars will get an automatic 'bye' simply because they are not registered in Spain!
Don't think you can do it with DGT but France has addressed that and for a non French car you can apply for a French Crit Air sticker which, as has been explained, will be valid in Spain.
For the price do you want to take the chance?

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
The government web site I posted previously states that badges issued in other countries will comply to the equivalent Spanish eco badge. So of you have a badge issued elsewhere in the EU it shouldn't be an issue. The Spanish government link also states that although in Spain it's the DGT that issue the badges they are enforced by local municipalities. Spain can't issue a badge for a non Spanish registered car although it would seem Barcelona can issue a temp licence for their zones. The links I put on specific regions don't say that foreign vehicles are exempt rather that they don't require the badge as Spain can't issue it. However it's up to the driver to ensure their vehicle meets the requirements and that foreign vehicles could be stopped by authorities and the driver would need to show their vehicle meets required emission standards. I would guess main issue would be for drivers of older vehicles. Has anyone on the forum fallen foul of these standards or been fined whilst driving a foreign registered vehicle?

I have collected my new car which did not come with an Eco Sticker badge, so I will need to apply for one just in case

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
Thanks so much, Bob for all this information...
But I am a still little confused.... quote:
In Spain, emissions badges aren't awarded to vehicles registered abroad, because they aren’t needed. If you have a vehicle from another country with an emissions badges scheme (such as Austria, Denmark, France or Germany), you will be considered to have the equivalent Spanish badge.
The implication being that a badge isnt needed as every country has an equivalent one. Or its ok for these 'badge - countries'... But.... What about the others ?

- a Green badge in Germany allowing to drive anywhere in any city in Germany
- no Crit Air in France as in France the manufacture date would have to be 1997 at least
- and no badge for Spain as there are none for Euro 2 emissions at all, only Euro 3 and higher
However, it seems one would be able to drive with the Green badge from Germany and under German registration in Madrid, but if the car was registered in Spain, one wouldn't get a badge at all?

That's the interesting part now. A VW Golf mark 3, petrol engine, manufactured in 1995 with a Euro 2 emission norm would get:
- a Green badge in Germany allowing to drive anywhere in any city in Germany
- no Crit Air in France as in France the manufacture date would have to be 1997 at least
- and no badge for Spain as there are none for Euro 2 emissions at all, only Euro 3 and higher

Then there are exemptions for who are working, or travelling to work. And work vehicles - bin trucks, delivery lorries, plumbers vans and all ...
His example was a 20 year old seat ibiza diesel, which doesn't get a sticker, saying he could still use it without an issue.

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
For Madrid, it depends if the owner lives in Madrid or outside it. If they live outside then they can't drive into Madrid with a 20-year-old diesel Seat Ibiza.
But that wouldn't fly in Barcelona, whether you live inside or outside Greater Barcelona, if you've got an A sticker or no sticker, you've got to register and use one of your 10 days per year or you'll be getting a fine.

But we are flying from Barcelona in October to Aus and the car will be there for over a month.
How does that work if you only get 10 days?

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
I will get round to getting one at some point as we dont go cities by car, preferring to park near a station on the outskirts and using public transport.

If you're parking on the outskirts you have to choose your town carefully because some are included as well.
You can use the ringroads ("Rondas") without using one of your 10 days though as they're not in the LEZ.

You have to get a B, C, Eco, or 0 sticker, drive outside 7am-8pm or on weekends/public holidays, pay the fine, or buy a new car.

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?
We applied for our sticker online. Our sticker arrived last week after about 3 weeks, longer than they said it would take but DGT Emailed to say they had run out of the B stickers and would despatch as soon as they were back in stock. At the moment we would only need it for our trips to Sevilla about once every 6 weeks.
can someone please explain what the “10 days” quoted previously is about since our Alhambra is a “B” sticker. TIA.
