I dont think this is the reason that you were criticized. It was your previous post, where you were quite rude. I feel sorry for any person who is having a hard time and particularly sad when people suffer as a result of "moving the goalposts" Lots of people have saved hard to achieve their dream in the sun and just want to spend the rest of their days taking it easy. No more than they deserve. So instead of slagging them off I would imagine that most expats would feel nothing but sympathy for them, wether they know them or not.

Ok let me try again,remember that i have had experience of spain,both living and working for myself there.Here is what i did,i rented a small appartment nothing flash(like many people do)this costs you too much money,make sure its a 12 month let,not 3 months,normally you only have to give two months upfront bond,and give two months notice,if you want to leave.Get a written contract.If you are on pension for gods sake work your money out,ie dont go to the pub,play bingo everyday,if your funds dont stretch that far,REMEMBER YOUR NOT ON HOLIDAY???.Another cheap comfortable way to live is in a caravan,but please look closly at all the contract for rental,or you can purchase a one on good spot for about 20k sterling.Caravan living is great in spain,and remember the hospitals are in MY opinion better than the uk.Thats it for now,i await the slagging off again.If you want recomendations of sites in benidorm contact me.

Thats better, a sensible post without insulting anybody. I am a pensioner planning to move to Spain shortly but I will have the cash to buy my property and a pension that should be good enough to live on (Not great but higher than the average wage in Spain) Also will have a few "K" in savings so should be o.k. I know we would find things a lot "tighter" in the U.K.

remember to register with local doctor in spain,dont leave till tommow,then the next day.

forget to say,in spain you pay purchase tax when you buy,you also pay tax when you sell,even if you sell at a loss??

Hi george, yes your money goes further here that's for sure, electric is about on par with UK though it can come as a shock if you don't know about it. We don't have our state pensions yet but we do cope on our private ones their not big but we could never have taken early retire and stayed in the UK. Where in Spain are you thinking of moving to?

The council rates are a lot less in spain,the air is good(if you live away from the holiday resorts) eating out is always a pleasure,but take your time in a restaurant in spain,its not like england,ie eat up we need the table.I have to admit thats what i miss about spain,the selection of restaurant.I love chinese food and in spain its some of the best i have tasted,the worst was in bradford.Eating out i found worked out cheaper,and more of an everyday occasion,and no washing up?One thing i did find that the spanish village restaurants are superb,go on give it a go,get in your car drive of into the mountains,youll soon find a true spanish restaurant,but please dont expect sunday roast,thats for the expats in the centre.Spain is for exploring,trying different things,it just proved too expensive for me to live how i wanted.
