Just back in Spain,plugged the Sky box in, no sat signal being received.
Tried the usual unplugging and waiting, still nothing.
Pretty certain the dish hasnt moved.

Showing a three to four signal strength.
No quality,
Locked on.
Other figures missing.

Next step please anyone ?

Have you tried changing the default transponder on the box to help it download the Sky Guide from another frequency?

You do this as the main frequency for the 7 day Sky guide inforamtion - 111778 - can be weak and even 2.4m dishes can struggle to receive this 24/7.

So you can change this "initial download frequency" as every other frequency carries a limited amount of Sky Guide data - enough to help the sky box start to function.

Note: Changing the default transponder is only used to help the sky box boot up. It DOES NOT affect individual channel reception. It is perfectly normal for this to revert back to 11778. There is on "exclusive" frequency to use - you can basically use any frequency you know you can receive.

And if you use to use 12129 - then since May 2012 this frequency has not been able to be use or input into a Sky box, as it is now a HD transponder (it carryied 4 BBC HD olympic streams) , with HD parameters that cannot be selected on a sky box, and since August (ie after the Olympics) it has been carrying no channels or data....so if your box is trying to boot using this frequency it will ont work as there is notihng on that frequency for it to use!

Of course, all of this is assuming that the dish has not moved, the LNB is still working, the connections are good, and there is no water ingress into the cable.....

We found recently that 11778 had stopped working on our large dish. On entering 12203 all was well again.

Maybe op could try this frequency?

11778 is weakest at around 5-7pm.
So if you are trying to boot a sky box up around these times then it may struggle to receive 11778, will not be able to receive the Sky channels list, and that is when you change the default to another so that the box download basic Sky chanenl informatin from that other frequency.

You can see when 11778 is weak by going to sky channel 998 - as it is on a similar frequency to 11778. If you cannot get 998, then you cant get 11778, and you will ont get the 7 days EPG channel list!

Popuular frequencies to use are
12207 - the frequency that carries a few Sky chanenls including Sky News
12051 - the frequency that carries a Turner channels like CNN.

but like i said you can use any frequency you know your dish can receive - there are a lot!

(12207 and 12203 are basically the same - there is always a bit of "leeway" between frequencies before ou stray over to another frequency.)

I tried most of the day and left it on 11778.
It eventually came back on by itself at 7pm onwards, around the time you say that frequency is weakest.
Anyway thanks for the help guys,all appears to be OK now.

I said it was weakest between 5-7pm, and so your box reaquired 11778 when it started to come back in after its weak time, it loaded the Sky Guide from that frequency, and started to work.
