Is there anyone out there that knows about Green burials in Spain? are they allowed and are there any sites in Galicia?

The best method of "green burials" in Glaicia, would be to place the recently deprted in a bus stop on one of the the rural routes.
As the transport is so infrequent,
they could then decompose as nature intended, without causing any changes to the eco system.
It is also very inexpensive.

I have not had any success as yet finding something on this. We live in Malaga. The 'best' I have got for non religious etc is a Humanist Officient will come over from the UK to conduct any ceremony/service I wish (all expenses paid of course). There is a woman humanist down our way who did my bosses service, but all attempts to contact her have failed.

ps - there is a humanist yahoo group in our area -but we have not had much success meeting up..

I have now asked the sacerdote to the church next door. I can confirm you can only be buried in consecrated ground. There are two places locla to you, where you can get cremated. One in Monforte and the other in Lugo. Your ashes can be buried or scattered where ever you wish.

Just giving the facts...no such thing as a green burial in this part of the world. there are only two ways to a have funeral.

Last year, my mother had a humanist funeral, cremation after the service. Her coffin was made out of banana leaves and it looked lovely, a beautifully woven casket. The service and the coffin were at her request because she knew she was dying so she had time to plan.

I don´t know whether or not cremation is very green because I look at it both ways. Create smoke or be buried in the ground, when there isn´t much ground available. I, personally,think cremation is better.

(Although we did have a 'near miss' 2 yrs ago on a mountain road when an idiot boy racer thought he would use our side of the road head on...)...
We have put in place our wishes.
Best to do it now - then everyone (family?) knows what you want.

I know in the UK you can choose to be buried in a cardboard coffin and have a tree planted ontop of you.
Sounds great... But don't think they do that here. As above poster said it is only allowed on consecrated ground in Spain...
