I am thoroughly enjoying reading 'Slow Trains around Spain' by Tom Chesshyre - informative, interesting and entertaining book about his recent travels around Spain mainly using the local lines (as against the AVE) Published 2022. You need not be an 'anorak' to enjoy this as the focus is on Spain and it's people.
and also - 'I'm off then' by (German) Hape Kerkeling. 'Losing and finding myself on the Camino de Santiago' also entertaining and informative especially if you fancy getting your boots on (or you have already like me) and hitting the Camino. Published 2009 in English.

The latest updated print edition was 2006.
