water the ground around the roots. The RHS did a massive test last year during the drought and half the plants they only top watered, the other half had a ground based irrigation, both the same amount of water, the results were quite amazing.

What did he feed it with? When and did the sun get on it after he fed it?

Sorry Matt but have to disagree with that.
Gordon Ramsey cooks his cabbage in less heat than you would get watering the grass in 40 c heat.

I will find out when he comes in. But I have a funny feeling it may have been in the morning before the sun got on it.

Is it the runner grass that grows like strawberry plants, If it is don`t worry it will soon get back unless he has killed it will the chemicals.
Ours gets watered now and again and has never had any fertilizer on it, its only campo grass after all.

its more the myth about water scorching the leaves, it is a myth, but I take your point about the heat.

Just asked hubby and he mowed, fed and watered it in the morning before the sun came round to the garden.

The feed may very well have scorched the grass, the feed minerals will have been on the blades.

jdr is right (don't tell him though it goes to his head) if it is a runner type grass, and I suspect it would be because that is generally a "tropical" style grass, it will recover, just be kind to it next time.
