Good Weekend?

I am at least honest about my meat eating, I am more than happy to kill what I eat and the freezer is nearly always full of pigeons and other stuff...........

Well of course we all make choices, and that's the benefit of living in a democracy.
I don't have a huge problem with people who kill animals to eat.
Far better for the animals to be living freely and running the risk of some other prey (animal or human) killing it, than being cooped up in some battery farm and never seeing daylight
Of course, I hate to see any animal dead (accidental or otherwise)
Here, it's hunting season and there are two types of hunt (as I'm sure you know)
Locals shoot birds and rabbits to eat.
What I can't cope with, is the idea of a "monteria" where everyone kills as many deer as possible, then lay them out in the plaza on full view, posing to have their photos taken
I presume that's a similar situation to the "slaughter" that you consider an organised shoot to result in?
I know there's nothing I can do about it; but it doesn't make it any easier to accept
Are you seriously going to spend goodness knows how much money on those clothes though?????
Surely you could just wear some ordinary walking clothes?
Somehow, I feel this is one of your "wind-ups" that gullible Sam has fallen for!?
I can't exactly bring myself to wish you a good time at the shoot; but I hope you're well anyway.

If all you get out of it is a kick then you are no better than a slaughterman dispatching animals all day long, and there is no pride in being able to kill 200 birds in a days shooting, you cant eat that many so why do it?
One of my first jobs was as a Ghillie in Scotland and I saw, week in, week out, rich clients coming to shoot deer simply for the heads as trophies, the meat was almost worthless at the time, we used to feed the damn stuff to the dogs!
I hated it, and while I knew there had to be a cull I couldn't stand it, hind season was worse, and I often used to cut them open and find an unborn fawn inside, all in the name of sport.
I shoot, and as you know rear, most of my meat, I don't eat pork and anything else I either trade with friends or barter for other friends, I even supply logs to a local deli owner in return for things.
as I once said on another site, if you are going to take the life of something be sure that you do it responsibly, respectfully, and waste nothing.

Anyway, your right, probably better to leave it as it is and snipe at me every couple of weeks, that should be OK with me.

Mate, I have far more important things to do than remember to snipe at some faceless bloke on the internet every couple of weeks. Glad you found post 44 - I haven't nor have the inclination to read it, but I am pleased that I gave you something to do to fill your time.
