true - but we're used to that now

and it's an English family who haven't been here long enough to be totally Spanishyfied yet!

If they were, they'd be taking their kids with them

exactly - though even Spanish parents like to get out without the kids sometimes

but they tend to have the extended family on hand to babysit

Our "ex" (Spanish) babysitter in Barcelona would sit for our son until 1am watching the TV and then head out clubbing until 6am, so for her it was just the early part of her evening!
