£1million Lottery syndicate winners at DVLA are embroiled in row over how to divide cash after three members failed to pay in
The 16-strong syndicate won £1million in Friday's EuroMillions draw
If the three members are excluded the others get an extra £14,423 each
Operators Camelot are mediating in the dispute between the members

If the trio are excluded from the win, the remaining syndicate members will receive another £14,000 each
A lottery syndicate that won £1million are locked in a dispute today over how to share the money after three members are accused of not paying for the ticket.
The 16 colleagues from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) were each due to receive £62,500 after they won the EuroMillions draw on Friday.
But in a drama reminiscent of the BBC series The Syndicate, the group are arguing about how to divide the winnings after three members had not paid.
Lottery operators Camelot were today trying to mediate in the row and senior officials at the DVLA have become involved.
If they exclude the workers who have not paid up the remaining members stand to gain an extra £14,423 each.

Is 14k worth losing three friends?

Depends on the circumstances. If people weren't paying deliberately then they should have been told they wouldn't share. But we don't know, the three may have been on long termsick, holiday or something. If so they should get it.

One thing is certain there are arguments with money! Same as family wills. One with a friend recenty. Her Uncle died , no will or direct heirs. He was in a long term gay relationship. Legally there were 5 beneficiaries. Nephews and nieces. The Solicitor explained to them that his long term partner had cared for him constantly and if they agreed he should/could be included but it had to be unanimous. My friend agreed, the others didn't even though it was like a windfall to them as they had had no contact with him for years

I read the story in the paper, it's a tricky one isn't it Personally I wouldn't want to exclude anyone but then again I don't know the circumstances (how often did they miss paying their weekly contribution or did they simply miss paying in that week due to a perfectly legitimate reason ... sickness, holiday or whatever ) Either way only the members of the syndicate can work this one out. I hope greed doesn't influence the decision as a win is a blessing and welcome however small/large and if they are friends as well as workmates then they also have to think about how much they value the friendship. I hope we get to hear the outcome.

So unfair ... your friend sounds like a just and honest person the others do not
