My first trip to Gibraltar was a two centre holiday (Gibraltar/Morocco) with my parents in the 1970s when the border was closed and to be honest, it was pretty limited although we did enjoy it. We stayed at the Caleta Palace hotel which has now been demolished. I particularly remember the symbolic closed gate on the Spanish side of the border, Liptons and lots of military personnel.
I prefer the way things are now.

Grey-list: Gibraltar has satisfied its action plan and is now due, subject to an onsite inspection in coming months, to be removed from the FATF Grey list at its next Plenary session scheduled to take place in February 2024. The positive economic impact arising from this announcement should not be underestimated.

Gaming: The Gambling Commissioner has told GBC that the biggest gaming companies locally have reiterated their commitment to the Rock. Remote gambling accounts for 28% of Gibraltar’s GDP and Mr Lyman says that an upcoming, updated gambling act will likely attract more inward investment.

SPAIN TOO PREPARES FOR POTENTIAL NO TREATY
13/11/2023 - 10:29Spain is preparing the border for the possibility of no treaty with some works already underway and more in the pipeline. This has added to the many different levels of uncertainty which surround the issue, although the likelihood of the PSOE being able to form government in Madrid has taken a huge step forward after the deal with Junts.
